Book... Project of a gift

Finalmente riesco a fare il post dedicato al mio progetto di cui parlo da un pò di tempo. Abbiate pazienza se il mio inglese non sarà perfetto.

Finally I am able to do the post about my book project. I hope you'll understand my awful English.
Occorente (What you need):
-fogli per le pagine, io ho usato quella da formaggio (sheets for pages, I used the chees one)
-forbice (scissors)
-ago e filo (needle and threat)
-cartone pesante per la copertina (heavy cardboard for the cover)
-colla vinilica (vinyl glue)
-velluto (velvet)
-pennelli (brushes)
-riga (ruler)
-taglierina (cutter)
-matita (pencil)
-garza (gauze)

Procedimento (process)

Per prima cosa dovete decidere la grandezza delle pagine che volete per il vostro quaderno. Io ho optato per la classica misura A4.

First of all you have to decide the size of the pages. I dediced to use A4 format.

Ora prendete i fogli, che immagino siano molto grandi. Piegate a metà i fogli e poi tagliate via la parte in eccesso, o tenetela se preferite quella misura. Se volete essere più precisi nel taglio utilizzate la taglierina e la riga. Io non le uso, preferisco le imperfezioni delle cose fatte a mano. Ho fatto più o meno 60 fogli.

Now you can take the sheets, I think they are big. Fild in a half and then cut, but if you like the format you can keep the format. If you want more precision use the cutter and the ruler. I prefer not to use because I love the imprefection of a handwork. I made about 60 sheets.

Foglio piegato a metà e tagliato nella misura desiderata (Sheets fold in half and cut in the format you like)

Una volta fatto questo prendete la riga e misurate il foglio, prendete una matita e segnate il centro del foglio. Una volta fatto questo misurate dal centro alla fine del foglio e mettete un altro punto nella metà esatta. Una volta segnati i buchi potete bucare i fogli.

Now take the sheets and opend them. You have to mesure and sign the half and then you have to do another time.After making the hole you can  puncture them.

Ora è il momento di cucire i fogli assieme. Create piccoli pacchetti da 4/5 fogli al massimo. Iniziate a cucire assieme prima questi 4 fogli assieme. Iniziate dal buco più in basso. Fate passare l'ago e tenete un bel pezzo di filo, tanto alla fine non si vedrà. Infilate l'ago nel scondo buco e poi nel terzo. Io faccio due giri, ma se volete farne tre va benissimo. Vi consiglio di utilizzare un ago sottile in modo che i buchi non si allarghino troppo.

Now it's the time to stich the sheets toghether. Make sheets packages, maximum 4/5 sheets. You can begin to stich togheter. Begin from the down hole, leave a good part of wire. Don't worry at the end of the work you'll not see it. Then stich the second and the third hole. I suggest you to make to turns, but if you want to do three there is no problem. I suggesto to use a thin niddle, so the hole will not enlarge.

Una volta cuciti i mazzetti è tempo di legare assieme i mazzetti per formare un unico libro. Fate attenzione: cucite dove ci sono i buchi e tirate molto, facendo attenzione a non rompere il tutto.

Now it's the time to put toghether the bouquets. Pay attention when you stich toghether: stich where there are the holes, and use all the strenght you have, but pay attention do not to broke all.

Ora che avete cucito potete mettere la garza per rafforzare il tutto. Io ho usato quella classica quadrata che si trova in tutte le farmacie.

Now you can use the gauze to streghten all. I use the square gauze. You can find the gauze pharrmacy.

Adesso è il tempo di pensare alla copertina. Ritagliate il cartone, io lascio più o meno un centimetro in più rispetto la grandezza del quaderno. Ricordatevi di tagliare anche la costina che deve essere dell'altezza giusta per il quaderno. Quando avete tagliato è il tempo si assemblare il tutto con il materiale scelto. Utilizzate pure la colla vinilica, si asciuga e non lascia tracce.

Now we have to think to the cover. Cut the cardboard. I leave always 1 cm more, but you can choose the mesure you want. When you cut it's the time to assemble all. You can use the vinyl glue, when it's dry it will not leave tracks.

Ora potete decorare come preferite. Io ho utilizzato nastri di velluto e juta. Vi consiglio anche di mettere del nastro adesivo una volta che avete messo il nastro, tanto alla fine non si vedrà.

Now you can decorate as you wish. I used velvet and juta ribbon. I suggest you to put scotch to strenghten, at the end you'll not see it.

Ora passiamo ad assemblare il quaderno. Incolliamo la costina e posizioniamo il quaderno. Attendiamo che la colla sia asciutta e poi passiamo alla copertina. Prendiamo il primo foglio del quaderno ed incolliamolo sulla copertina. Aspettate ancora che la colla sia asciutta e poi fate la stessa cosa dall'altra parte. Aspettate due ore che sia tutto asciutto.

Now we can assemble the book. Glue the rib and put the book. Wait a couple of hours. Than we have to take the first page of the book and glue it on the cover. Wait two hours and then to the same with the other page at the end of the book. Wait to hours.
